The Pods Framework allows an ordinary user or developer to easily create and extend WordPress custom post types, content types, taxonomies, users, media, or comments — helping you keep your content organised and speed up the development of your project.

AmazingWebDesign find the Pods framework very useful when we use Wordpress as it can help provide a powerful base on which to add data structures in Wordpress. The software framework tool is Free, Open Source and GPL-licensed, and AmazingWebDesign, as a recurring regular donor contribute to ongoing support as a Friend of the project.

Pods was originally released by Matt Gibbs in 2008 and Scott Kingsley took over as lead developer in 2011. In 2012 Automattic (The Developer of Wordpress, founded by Matt Mullenweg) stepped in to sponsor the project and the Pods Foundation was formed in order to make sure the framework remains free and open-source.

In Jan 2020 it was announced that the main sponsor of Pods (Automattic) would be ending their sponsorship of Pods, so in our view it becomes even more important now to support this useful and innovative website tool to ensure its future.
